Getting Your Mobility Back

Do You Struggle to Get Up and Down From the Floor?

If one of your New Year’s goals is to be stronger and move more confidently, mastering the ability to get up and down from the floor with ease is a great place to start.

Maybe you noticed over the holidays—whether cleaning, playing with kids, or wrapping gifts—that this movement felt harder than it used to.

(And made you feel older all of a sudden - yikes! 😬)

Don’t worry. While this essential everyday movement can be frustrating when it’s difficult, the good news is that you CAN master it.

With the right exercises, you can regain the ability to do this movement with ease.

JUST ONE THING

If you’re having trouble getting up and down from the floor, stiff and weak lower body muscles may be the culprit.

Your JUST ONE THING to Easily Climb Down On the Floor:

Improve Your Lower Body Mobility

Getting up and down from the floor takes more than strength.

It also requires mobility in your lower body!

Try this simple quad stretch to boost both your flexibility AND strength in those important muscles.

This quick, effective move directly enhances your ability to transition to and from the floor with ease.

It may seem like a small step, but it can make a BIG difference in how strong and mobile you feel! 🙌

Standing Quad Stretch

  1. Holding on for balance if needed, lay one foot over the seat or the arm of a chair behind you.
  2. Make sure your knee is pointing straight down, not out to the side.
  3. You should feel the stretch through the front of your thigh (quads) and even up into your hip.

Extra Tip:

Once you feel steady, try lowering your body a touch and standing back up strong. This will strengthen the quads & glutes of the standing leg - super important!

Did You Know...

  • The “split stance” (one foot forward, one foot back) is a fundamental position and is important to master for countless everyday movements, especially climbing down and up from the floor.
  • Losing mobility (or flexibility) in your hips is a major reason why everyday movements can feel like a struggle.
  • Doing this stretch everyday can even reduce low back and hip pain!

Until next week... Be strong
